Ms. Franklin has served as a director of GenVec since October 2002. Ms. Franklin is Chairman of GenVec's Audit Committee. Ms. Franklin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Barbara Franklin Enterprises, a private investment and consulting firm which she founded in 1995. Previously, she was a business consultant. Ms. Franklin served as the 29th U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 1992 to 1993, and as President of Franklin Associates from 1984 to 1992. She was a Senior Fellow at the Wharton School and one of the original Commissioners of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Ms. Franklin currently is a director of Aetna Inc.; The Dow Chemical Company; MedImmune, Inc.; and Washington Mutual Investors Fund. She is a past director of the American Institute of CPA's and received the John J. McCloy Award for contributions to audit excellence. She is a director of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and was chosen as NACD Director of the Year in 2000 and Outstanding Director by Board Alert in 2003. Ms. Franklin graduated from the Pennsylvania State University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School. |
