Ballard (Jim) Jamieson, Jr. focuses his practice on the formation, management and representation of pharmaceutical consortia. Comprised of the major international pharmaceutical firms and other medium sized and smaller US based companies, these consortia sponsor scientific consensus building on product quality standards, conduct joint safety testing programs, manage joint acceptance testing programs and laboratories and coordinate other scientific collaborations. On behalf of their member companies, these consortia facilitate extensive dialogue and partnering with the Food and Drug Administration and seek to strengthen the industry’s relationship with the Agency’s scientists, lawyers and senior managers. These consortia also address other matters of common interest in the pharmaceutical industry such as the privacy of medical records, international restrictions on the use of medicinal aerosols and the industry’s relationship with institutional review boards. Jim and the pharmaceutical group serve as secretary and legal counsel to these consortia, manage the day-to-day activities of their boards of directors and working groups, and represent them before the FDA and other regulatory authorities in the United States and the European Union.
Prior to joining the firm, Jim served as general counsel to the Paul Laxalt Group, a District of Columbia consulting firm. In that role, he represented corporate interests in the legislative, administrative and judicial context.
From 1976 to 1979, Jim served in the Office of the General Counsel of the Council on Environmental Quality in the executive office of the president.
In General. Jim received his bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1968 and graduated from Yale Law School in 1971, where he served as editor of Yale Law Journal. |
