Brian is a partner in the real estate department. Brian is a member of the real estate development practice group and is chair of the mixed-use/planned development practice group. His current practice concentrates on mixed-use and other planned developments, planning and development of single-family subdivisions and shopping center developments. He has substantial experience in condominium and planned community structure and documentation.
Representative Matters
Represented developer of an approximately 1,700-acre mixed-use development in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina, and several other business and technology parks in the Charlotte area. Work on these developments has included all aspects of the acquisition of the raw land, acquisition and development financings, detailed analysis of title and survey, conditional zoning and development rights issues, negotiation and closing on contracts with developers, and drafting of protective covenants.
Structured sophisticated condominium and planned unit developments, including use of common ownership interest community documentation in commercial and mixed-use projects, sometimes using these forms of ownership to address subdivision and building code issues.
