Since co-founding RLS in 1989, Avery has focused the Company's efforts on creative solutions to organizations providing services to older adults. As CEO, he is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the Company, as well as new business development. Prior to taking on his responsibilities as CEO, Avery was the Principal in charge of all of the development services of RLS, including site evaluation and acquisition, entitlements and project management. Prior to founding RLS, Avery held a number of positions of responsibility in real estate investment, development and finance. In 1988 and 1989, he was the director of acquisitions for a Hartford-based real estate development company and from 1984 to 1988 was an investment officer in the urban investment division of Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Avery holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Design from Franconia College and an MBA from the University of Denver Graduate School of Business and Public Management. Outside of work, Avery has demonstrated a long history of commitment to not-for-profit organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Duncaster, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and the Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, Connecticut; he is a past member of the Board of the Hartford Ballet and the Adirondack Council. |
