Averell Withers joined Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher in April 2005. He has assisted companies in a broad range of areas including: mergers and acquisitions, proxy contests, management changes, restructurings, regulatory investigations, crisis situations and issues management.
Mr. Withers’ recent transaction experience includes Phelps Dodge in its acquisition by FreePort-McMoRan, multiple transactions involving Motorola, including its recent acquisition of Symbol Technologies and Good Technology, Verizon’s spin-off of its yellow pages business to form Idearc, adidas-Salomon’s acquisition of Reebok International and Constellation Brands and its acquisition of Vincor International.
His investor and public relations clients, for whom he provides on-going support, include, King Pharmaceuticals, LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, Motorola, Schering-Plough, TD Ameritrade and TIAA-CREF.
Prior to joining Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher, Mr. Withers was an Account Executive in Hill & Knowlton’s Corporate/Financial Practice in New York where he was a member of their Issues and Crisis Management team. In this capacity, Mr. Withers was active in a variety of corporate communications areas, handling: crisis management and preparedness, corporate governance, internal communications and investor relations. He worked with such clients as: Benjamin Moore, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, Marriott International, MCI/Worldcom, Mitsubishi, New York Life and Sankyo Pharmaceuticals.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Mr. Withers came to the United States in 1998 to attend Middlebury College. He graduated in 2002 with a B.A. in Geography and a minor in Economics. |
