Arthur Chong is executive vice president and chief legal officer for Safeco. In this position, he oversees Safeco’s legal, government relations, corporate governance and internal audit activities.
Chong joined Safeco in November 2005 after 24 years at McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 15 healthcare services and information technology company based in San Francisco. At McKesson, Chong was named deputy general counsel in 1999 and was responsible for the day-to-day management of most of the company’s legal and regulatory functions. He served in a number of other legal and management roles with McKesson from 1981 to 1999.
A 1978 graduate of Harvard Law School, Chong received his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining McKesson, he was an associate at the law firm of McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen in San Francisco.
