W. Arthur Porter, Ph.D. is dean for the College of Engineering and University Vice President for the Office of Technology Development at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Porter also served as the first secretary for Science and Technology Development for the State of Oklahoma. He is the former president and chief executive officer of the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC).
He earned his bachelor and master of science degrees in physics from the University of North Texas and his Ph.D. in interdisciplinary engineering from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Porter is a member of the board of directors of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. of Portland, Oregon and Bookham Technologies of Oxfordshire, England. He co-chaired Governor Bush's Texas Science and Technology Council and is a corresponding member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. Dr. Porter has been a Stewart Director since 1993. |
