Artie Jones practices in the area of labor and employment law, focusing on avoiding and defending employment litigation.
Mr. Jones counsels clients on a broad array of employment matters. This part of his practice includes advising employers on all aspects of federal and state employment law, including hiring and termination practices, employee discipline, and various employment policies. He has also assisted guiding employers through workforce reductions, providing advice regarding compliance with the Older Workers Benefits Protection Act (OWBPA).
A substantial portion of Mr. Jones' practice has been devoted to employment litigation. He has defended employers against claims of discrimination (including sex, race, and age), retaliation, and sexual and racial harassment, as well as employment-related tort claims and unfair labor practice charges. He also has experience in seeking court enforcement of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements. Mr. Jones has litigated in federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels, and has represented clients before various administrative bodies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and state agencies.
Before joining Dykema, Mr. Jones was an associate with Baker & Hostetler in Cleveland, Ohio and Washington, D.C., where, in addition to his employment practice, Mr. Jones also gained experience in a variety of commercial litigation matters. |
