Art Courville is executive vice president, General Counsel and secretary for Symantec Corporation and is the company’s chief legal officer. He is responsible for managing the company’s legal department and government and corporate affairs group.
Courville has nearly 20 years of corporate legal experience, beginning as an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Courville took his first position with Symantec in 1993 as the third attorney in Symantec's legal department. In 1997, Courville took the position of director of product management for Symantec's Internet Tools business unit, where he was responsible for all product management activities related to Java development tools and HTML editing products. Courville later returned to the legal department and was appointed as vice president and general counsel in 1999.
Courville received his law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley and also received an MBA from the business school there. Courville also has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University. |
