Arron joined the Packard Foundation in 2006. He is a program officer in Children, Families, and Communities (CFC), where his grantmaking portfolio includes diverse organizations that support the statewide after-school field in areas of sustainability, workforce development, and standards of quality; and supporting long-standing Foundation-supported youth programs.
Prior to joining the Foundation, for five years Arron was the development director for the California School-Age Consortium, an advocacy and professional development organization that works to ensure after-school programs are accessible, affordable, and of high quality. Arron has led state and regional efforts to address the growing workforce development needs in the after-school field and has been a key leader in building city- and county-level collaborations that address quality after-school programs.
He also worked for five years at a community action agency in Nebraska, leading an effort to create a comprehensive and integrated education division for children, youth, and young adults known as the Youth Opportunities Center. While at the Youth Opportunities Center, Arron codesigned a nationally recognized restorative justice project for youth offenders, launched a Youthbuild program for out-of-school youth, and was a key architect of a two-county workforce development system for young adults.
Arron is on the board of directors of Communities Overcoming Relationship Abuse, a domestic violence organization serving the people of San Mateo County, and is a volunteer trainer for community-based organizations on anti-oppression strategies, overcoming cultural assumptions, and cross-cultural communications. |
