Aron M. Schwartz is a partner of the firm, where he is a member of its Litigation Department and Chair of its Labor & Employment Law Practice Group. Mr. Schwartz concentrates his practice in employment law litigation and counseling, primarily for management. He has extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration proceedings and mediation. He is also a seasoned appellate attorney at the state and federal levels. Mr. Schwartz's practice includes defense of employment discrimination, whistleblower and wrongful discharge claims of all types; employment policy & handbook drafting and review; and negotiation of employment contracts, non-competition agreements, and restrictive covenants, and related litigation. Mr. Schwartz is experienced in public sector labor law for management and civil rights litigation defense and also has a practice concentration in school law and college and university law. Throughout his career he has been extensively involved in representing local school districts, colleges and universities (including Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, state and county colleges, and other educational institutions) and municipal and other public entities in labor and employment and other matters. Additionally, he is experienced in the defense of defamation cases. Before joining the firm in 1999, Mr. Schwartz was with another New Jersey law firm for more than 19 years. Prior to that, he served as deputy attorney general in the New Jersey attorney general's office. Mr. Schwartz is a graduate of the University of Rochester (1974) and earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law (1976). He is a member of the Morris County Bar Association, where he served as a trustee from 1996 to 2000 and as editor of the Association’s newsletter, The Morris Lawyer, from 1994-98. He is also a member of the New Jersey State and American Bar Associations, and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. Mr. Schwartz is a past chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court District X Ethics Committee, is a current member of the District X Fee Arbitration Committee and served on the Supreme Court of NJ Ad Hoc Committee on Skills and Methods.
