Arnold B. Zetcher, chairman, president and chief executive officer, joined Talbots in 1987 as president and assumed the title of chief executive officer in 1988 and chairman in 2000. He also serves as chairman of Talbots Board of Directors. Zetcher oversees all aspects of the Company's operation.
Prior to joining Talbots, Zetcher was chairman and chief executive officer of John Breuner Company, a home furnishings division of BATUS, in San Francisco, California. Zetcher formerly served as chairman and chief executive officer of another BATUS division, Kohl's Food Stores in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Previously, Zetcher was chairman and chief executive officer of Bonwit-Teller, a New York City-based women's specialty retailer with stores nationwide. Zetcher's earlier experience includes ten years with Cincinnati, Ohio-based Federated Department Stores in various financial and administrative positions of increasing responsibility.
Active in a number of retail industry and community organizations, Zetcher serves as a member of the board of directors for: Revman Industries Inc., home furnishings; Talbots Japan Co., Ltd.; the National Retail Federation, retail trade association; the Boston Downtown Crossing Association, a Boston business association; and the Celebrity Series of Boston, a nonprofit cultural organization. He is also a Trustee of Washington University, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Retail Federation.
Zetcher was recognized by Business Week as one of the Top 25 Managers of the Year in 2000. In 1995, Financial World magazine named him Chief Executive Officer of the Year for Retail: Apparel and Accessories. He was also recognized with a bronze award in the magazine's 1994 competition in the same category.
Zetcher holds a bachelor of science degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Zetcher resides in Boston, Massachusetts, with his wife, Ellen.
