Armand Lumens was appointed vice president finance and business services when he joined Shell Global Solutions International in April 2007, based in The Hague.
Armand’s first experience of Shell came in France as an intern where he gained an overview of the company by working in the Marketing and Competitive Positioning department of Shell France.
Upon graduating from Maastricht University with an MBA in International Finance and Accounting in 1993, he joined Shell Nederland. Working as a finance advisor in trading controls, he was responsible for assessing and controlling credit risks as well as limiting business risks by reviewing and advising on trading commitments, guarantees, insurance, derivative trades swaps and credit ratings.
After three years he joined the Shell International subsidiary, Butagaz International in France where he advised on mergers and acquisitions in Eastern Europe with the aim to develop the LPG business in the region.
In 1998, he moved to Shell Gas Bulgaria where he worked as general manager on a greenfield project establishing a gas bottling plant, 400 retail outlets, five depots and autogas stations for LPG sales.
Staying within the Global Shell LPG organisation, he became in 2000 regional supply chain manager for LPG where he was involved in exchange deals, terminal constructions, throughput deals and supply chain optimisation across 32 countries.
A move to Shell International in London saw Armand become group finance analyst in 2003. This put him at the forefront of the Group’s accounting policy and he worked on reserves reporting and the preparation of the unification of the company under Royal Dutch Shell plc.
Prior to joining Shell Global Solutions Armand was head of external reporting and planning, a role which included the publication of the Group Annual Report/20-F and ensuring the Group’s compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. |
