Arlene A. Forastiere, M.D. is Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center. Dr. Forastiere obtained her fellowship training in oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. She was a Senior Investigator at the National Cancer Institute Clinical Trials Program and on the faculty at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor before coming to the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in 1988. Dr. Forastiere is internationally recognized for her research contributions and clinical expertise in the treatment of cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract. Her contributions include chairing numerous national and regional clinical trials that evaluate new, innovative therapies for esophageal cancer and head and neck cancers the results of which are in the published literature. She is on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Clinical Oncology; serves on the Gastro-enterology Cancer Committee and is the Chair of the Head and Neck Cancer Committee for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group; serves on the Cancer Prevention Committee, Gastro-enterology Cancer and Head and Neck Cancer Committees of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. |
