Arden L. Shisler is a board member of Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. (NFS), a part of Nationwide, a $161 billion diversified financial services organization based in Columbus, Ohio. NFS is the publicly traded holding company for Nationwide's long-term savings operation. He was elected to the board in 2002 and has served as board chairman since 2003. He also serves on the boards of Nationwide Life Insurance Company and Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance Company, subsidiaries of NFS.
Mr. Shisler retired from the board of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, the parent company of the Nationwide organization, after 24 years of service. He served as board chairman from 1992 until his retirement in 2008.
Mr. Shisler is former president and chief executive officer of K&B Transport, Inc., a trucking firm in Dalton, Ohio.
He is a former director of the National Cooperative Business Association in Washington, DC., former board member and vice president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and past president of the Ohio Agricultural Marketing Association, a Farm Bureau subsidiary. He is a past member of the Ohio Trucking Association, the Ohio Trucking Safety Council and a past board member of the Wilderness Center. He is a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau, Cornerstone Community Church, the Advisory Committee of The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, and is a member of the board of the Ohio 4-H Foundation.
Born in Massillon, Ohio, Mr. Shisler graduated from Dalton High School, attended The Ohio State University, and served in the U.S. Army. |
