Admiral Archie Clemins is the founder and president of Caribou Technologies, Inc., an international consulting firm, and a venture partner with Highway 12 Ventures. He currently serves on a number of Boards of Directors and Advisory Boards for companies involved in the transition of commercial technology to the government sectors, where it presents optimum enterprise solutions.He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy through the University of Illinois NROTC program and served on a number of submarines prior to commanding the USS POGY (SSN 647). He earned a M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. Promoted to Flag rank in 1991, he had five follow-on assignments, including Commander, Pacific Fleet Training Command and Commander, Seventh Fleet, headquartered in Yokosuka, Japan. Admiral Clemins concluded his military career in Hawaii as the 28th Commander in Chief of the U. S. Pacific Fleet, responsible for the world’s largest combined fleet command, encompassing 102 million square miles and more than 190 ships and submarines, 1,500 aircraft and 200,000 sailors and marines.Credited by many as the prime mover of the Navy’s Information Technology for the 21st Century (IT-21), and the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) programs, Admiral Clemins continues to be a strong advocate for the accelerated use of information technology and the adaptation of the best commercial practices in the military and in government. |
