Executive director of the PT Group. Born on 19th May 1952 in Fundão. In 1969 he wins the National Award for Portuguese High Schools. He graduates in Electrotechnical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico in 1975 and does a Post-Graduation in Management at ISCTE (1989) and at Universidade Nova (1994) with Very Good as final mark.
He starts his professional career at Telecommunications Division of CTT in 1978 with a specialisation in Automatic Commutation at CET in Aveiro. He then becomes responsible for the conclusion of the Telephone Automatisation of the Castelo Branco Network Group that was concluded in 1980. In said year he goes to the Engineering Division in Lisbon and takes on the leading position of the Planning of the National telephone Network area of Stations and integrates the Group that selected the first Digital Stations Siemens and Alcatel. In 1987 he is entrusted with the implementation of the first Technical and Commercial Department of the new Commercial Division and remained here until the beginning of 1990. During the eighties he represented the CTT/TLP in various International Telecommunications Organisms. In 1990 he assumes the integrated management of Telecommunications in the Region of Santarém and in 1993 in the Region of Setúbal contributing decisively towards the modernisation of the infrastructures reorganisation and rationalisation of the structures and the innovation in processes that allowed a clearer improvement in the Quality of Service for Clients. In 1995 he is invited to comprise the Board of PT where he is responsible for all Business Operational Areas and co-operates in the first phase of the company’s privatization process. As of 1996 he moves over to TV Cabo and launches TV Cabo Sado whilst Chairman and consolidates TV Cabo Tejo and TV Cabo Lisboa respectively as Chairman and Managing Director. Since 1997 he represents PT in INESC where he actively co-operated in the restructuring and strategic change of positioning. In 2000 he is nominated Director of TV Cabo and has a relevant role in the merger of seven regional companies.
As of 2003 in addition to being Executive Director of TV Cabo Portugal he integrates the Board of Cabo TV Açoreana. On 21st April 2006 he is elected for the Board of PT SGPS and as member of the Executive Committee takes on the areas of Service Quality and Client Satisfaction Service Contracting Strategy and Integrated Strategy for Networks. He also assumes the presidency of PT Compras and PT Contact. On 22nd April 2006 at the Sala do Senado of the University of Coimbra he receives the Comenda de Mérito Internacional da Ordem Pedro Álvares Cabral of the State of S. Paulo Brazil (Outstanding Merit Award).
He is member of the Order of Engineers where he received the title o Expert in Telecommunications.
His main hobbies are reading chatting travelling participating in Communitarian Groups and practicing sports specially tennis. |
