Dr. Anthony Tortolani has had a very impressive medical career in his specialty area of cardiothoracic surgery. Active in both the practice and educational realms of medicine, Dr. Tortolani has worked at nearly every major New York hospital throughout his career. He is currently a Professor of Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, a faculty post he’s had since 1973. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Cornell Cardiothoracic Surgery Network and is the Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He has participated in multiple research studies, most notably with methods for improving recovery of heart function from open heart surgery. He is the author of over 70 academic and scientific papers, and belongs to multiple professional societies, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Surgeons, the Association for Surgical Education, the Societe Internationale de Chirurgie, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. |
