Mr. Vecino practices estate planning and tax law, counseling clients on how to achieve their wealth transfer and asset protection goals while minimizing their exposure to income, gift and estate taxes. Estate and Charitable Planning Through the creation of various types of trusts and implementation of other planning and gifting techniques, Mr. Vecino assists the firm's clients in protecting their business and personal assets and achieving their wealth transfer goals. His knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law, general business law, and a wide range of sophisticated trust and estate planning strategies enables Mr. Vecino to assist his clients in identifying their overall objectives and choosing and implementing appropriate estate planning and gifting strategies. Mr. Vecino's familiarity with a broad range of estate planning and wealth transfer vehicles, including revocable "living" trusts, wills, irrevocable life insurance trusts, educational trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and private foundations enables him to provide efficient, cost-effective representation to the firm's clients. Professional Activities Mr. Vecino is a member of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law and Taxation Sections of the State Bar of California, the Real Property, Probate and Trust and Taxation sections of the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Estate Planning Council. Mr. Vecino currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Taxation Section of the California State Bar and is the immediate past Chair of its Estate and Gift Tax Committee. In 2003, Mr. Vecino presented a program entitled "Moving Beyond the Simple Will: Tax Implications of Estate Planning for Lawyers" at the 76th annual meeting of the State Bar of California. In May 2006, Mr. Vecino participated as a member of the California State Bar Taxation Section's delegation on its annual trip to meet with various government officials in Washington, D.C. Mr. Vecino authored a paper on IRC Section 2053 estate tax deduction issues and presented the material in meetings with various officials representing the IRS, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. |
