Mr. Rhem is an Information Systems professional with over twenty four(24) years of experience focused on the implementation of major application systems. Anthony is also a published author, instructor and seminar presenter, presenting the application and theory of Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management, and Business Process Re-engineering. His seminars have been conducted in the United States, Europe and Korea and he continues his work in this area today.
Anthony holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management with a concentration in Marketing and Computer Science from Purdue University (1982), a Masters of Science Degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from DePaul University (1989), certification in Knowledge Management from the KM Institute (2006), an honorary doctorate in Information Systems Technology from CIU (2004) and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Applied Management & Decision Science - Knowledge Management from Walden University (expected 2007). Upon receiving his Masters of Science Degree in 1989, he formed A. J. Rhem & Associates Inc., an IT Solutions firm focusing on Knowledge Management, Artificial Intelligence and Information Engineering, with offices currently located in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, DC. For the past sixteen (16) years, Anthony has been managing the day-to-day operations of his firm while consulting in the Information Technology marketplace.
Experience:
Dr. Rhem has experience consulting with major corporations on the implementation of impacts of Sabanes-Oxley and HIPPA to corporate information systems. Anthony has served as an Adjunct Professor at American University (1994) and University of Phoenix Online (2002); performed an integral role in the development of the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) for the Department of Education. This system received a Smithsonian award for excellence in computing software development. (1995); performed an integral role in the design of Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RF/ID) as it pertains to the tracking and accountability of Army ammunition for the Department of Defense US Army (1997). This was the first such design of its kind for the Department of Defense; served on the Board of Directors of Systems Integrators Inc (SII) from 1996 - 1999.
Board and Advisory Experience:
As a member of the Board of Directors of SII Anthony developed a detail analysis of CyberGraphics Ltd. a software vendor for the publishing industry and a competitor of SII. This analysis was used as a tool to determine a possible purchase or merger with this firm (1996). Anthony was elected as the Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee of to the board of directors of SII (1997) and performed an integral role in the successful debt restructuring of SII (1998). Also as Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee, performed an integral role in the successful purchase of SII to Publishing Systems, Inc (1999).
Current Advisory Positions:
Anthony’s current advisory work includes the Entrepreneur Advisor Board Chairman, BDPA Thought Leaders. He has also served as Education Chair for the BDPA Chicago Chapter (1991-1993). He is a member of The Technology Council of Advisors for the Gerson Lehman Group, member of the Advisory Board for American University Professional Science Master’s Degree Program, Member of the National Science Foundation SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) Review Panel and member of the Board of Directors and CIO of The RHEM Foundation a not-for-profit organization serving inner-city youth.
