Anselmo Chemo Castro, Jr. has devoted his entire professional career to banking and has served IBC retail and business customers for over twenty five years, on both sides of the border. Since joining IBC-Laredo in 1981, Castro has developed strong expertise in consumer and commercial lending, credit/loan review, collections, certificates of deposit, litigation/compliance, and operations. He served as branch administrator managing both traditional and retail branches, and is currently Senior Vice President in the international division, where he oversees a large portfolio of customers, including corporate customers from both sides of the border. He is a key member of several corporate banking committees of IBC Bancshares. Castro has the distinction of being IBC’s first Employee Advisory Board (EAB) President. The EAB is the community service volunteer organization, comprised of IBC employee leaders, which has won countless awards at the local, county, and state levels. His commitment to IBC is matched by his dedication to numerous civic and charitable organizations in Laredo and surrounding communities. He is a board member and past president of the United Way of Laredo, where he earned the coveted Ramiro V. Sanchez Volunteer of the Year award. He has also served as president of the American Heart Association and the Jalapeño Festival. He was a Charter member of the Streets of Laredo Urban Mall Association and The Laredo Center for the Arts. He remains as Chairman of the Board of The Laredo Center for the Arts and serves as an Advisory Board member of the Street’s Jamboozie Festival Committee. He served as Co-Chair of Laredo Independent School District’s District Education Improvement Council. Castro has been honored as an Outstanding Young Man of America and is a Leadership Laredo alumnus. His many other memberships include the Laredo Art League, The Streets of Laredo Urban Mall Association, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, The River Pierce Foundation and the Webb County Heritage Foundation.In addition to degrees and certificates earned at Laredo Community College, the American Bankers Association’s National Compliance School, and National Graduate Compliance School, he has also successfully completed numerous workshops, conferences, seminars and other studies conducted by Texas Bankers Association, the American Institute of Banking and other professional organizations. Martin High School, his alma mater, recently honored him as a Tiger Legend in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and achievements. |
