Ms. Foreman served as Under Secretary of the United States Air Force from September 1989 until January 1993. Prior to her appointment as Under Secretary, Ms. Foreman was General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force and a member of the Department's Intelligence Oversight Board. Ms. Foreman also served in the White House as Associate Director of Presidential Personnel for National Security from 1985 to 1987. She practiced law in the Washington office of the Houston-based law firm of Bracewell and Patterson and with the British solicitors Boodle Hatfield, Co., in London, England from 1979 to 1985. Ms. Foreman is a former member of the U.S. Foreign Service, and served in Beirut, Lebanon; Tunis, Tunisia; and the U.S. Mission to the U.N. She was a U.S. Delegate to the 31st Session of the U.N. General Assembly and to the 62nd Session of the U.N. Economic and Social Council. Ms. Foreman earned a bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in history and French, and a master's in history from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She holds her juris doctor from American University in Washington D.C. and was awarded an honorary doctorate of law from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. Ms. Foreman is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, has been a member of numerous Presidential delegations, and was twice awarded the Air Force Medal for Distinguished Civilian Service. Ms. Foreman is a member of the Board of Directors of Ultra Electronics Defense, Inc.; Advanced Programming Concepts, Inc.; and Trust Services, Inc. She is also a Trustee of the National Gypsum Company Settlement Trust and a Director and Treasurer of the Asbestos Claims Management Corporation. Ms. Foreman also served on the Board of The Wackenhut Corporation for nine years. |
