Anne E. Sutherland joined Nationstar Mortgage, formerly known as Centex Home Equity, in April 1997 and now has over seventeen years of legal experience in the mortgage banking/consumer finance industry. She currently serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel - Nationstar Mortgage, and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer - Nationstar Mortgage. Ms. Sutherland's responsibilities cover securitizations, acquisitions, litigation management, state and federal regulatory compliance, negotiation of agreements, product and program development as well as coverage of the day-to-day legal and compliance issues for all staff and production departments within the company.
Prior to joining Nationstar Mortgage, Ms. Sutherland served as Vice President, Division Counsel, and Secretary of ContiMortgage Corporation, a subsidiary of ContiFinancial located in Horsham, Pennsylvania, after joining the company in October of 1993. She was chief legal counsel for the company during its rapid growth and completed acquisitions of several entities for the company, as well as oversight of class action litigation. The regulatory compliance department at ContiMortgage was formed and supervised by Ms. Sutherland. Prior to ContiMortgage Corporation, Ms. Sutherland was the Assistant General Counsel for Ford Consumer Finance Company, a subsidiary of Associates Financial Corporation of North America. Ms. Sutherland joined Ford in July of 1989 in Norwalk, Connecticut, and was subsequently transferred to Dallas, Texas. During her tenure at Ford, she was responsible for legal operations in numerous states. In addition, Ms. Sutherland served as Counsel for Wells Fargo Credit Corporation in Scottsdale, Arizona, from January 1988 until its dissolution in July 1989. Previously, Ms. Sutherland served as Staff Attorney for the Oklahoma Bankers Association in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ms. Sutherland earned a B.B.A. with a major in finance, as well as a J.D., both from the University of Oklahoma. She is licensed to practice law in the states of Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas and is active in several mortgage industry attorney forums. Ms. Sutherland serves on the Governing Committee for the Conference on Consumer Law and is on the Advisory Committee of BorrowSmart. |
