Angie Hankins is actively involved in all aspects of intellectual property, including patent prosecution and litigation and client counseling. Her litigation practice has involved all aspects of discovery, trial and appeal before the Federal courts and the International Trade Commission. Her patent cases have involved liquid crystal displays, cameras, computer software, mechanical devices and pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Hankins has drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications for high technology companies in areas such as telecommunications, computer software and hardware and mechanical devices. In particular, Ms. Hankins has drafted and prosecuted patent applications involving medical software, circuit breakers, fuel injection and braking systems and telecommunications systems.
Ms. Hankins also has counseled clients on patentability and infringement. In particular, Ms. Hankins has performed patentability and infringement analysis for cellular communication systems, telecommunication buses, methods of injection molding and mechanical and biomechanical devices.
Ms. Hankins also works with clients to protect their intellectual property rights from the inception of their business, through financing and beyond and has drafted and negotiated technology agreements, including distribution and licensing agreements.
Prior to completing law school and throughout college, Ms. Hankins worked at Bell Communications Research (BELLCORE). Her responsibilities at BELLCORE included developing software for Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line III and a test-plan for data link path protection switching. In addition, Ms. Hankins served as a communications specialist in the U.S. Air Force.

Asserted patents for single use cameras resulting in a jury verdict and damages award of approximately $30 million.
Asserted General Exclusion Order and Cease and Desist Orders granted by the International Trade Commission (ITC) resulting in the largest penalty in the history of the ITC.
Worked with high technology companies to assess patent portfolios, assert patents and draft and prosecute patent applications.
Counseled clients regarding licensing and distribution agreements, claims of infringement and the patentability of inventions.
