Director of Historic Preservation, Mr. Powell manages State and Federal Historic Tax Credit processes for all SBER rehabilitation projects to ensure compliance with the National Park Service Secretary of the Interior s Standards. This entails overseeing historic window repair/ replacement, masonry restoration, structural rehabilitation, and coordination between architect, developer, contractor, historic consultant, as well as state and federal tax credit reviewers. Projects include the American Brewery in Baltimore, which has some of the city s most detailed brick-, window-, and metal-work; the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, North Carolina, of which the Old Bull building is a National Historic Landmark ; The Dynamo House in Providence, Rhode Island, which previously powered much of Providence and will be turned into a hotel, museum, restaurant and office space as well as the American Locomotive Complex in Providence where 26 buildings on a 22.5 acre site will be reused. Mr. Powell obtained a Bachelor in Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Preservation Maryland, Baltimore Heritage, Association for Preservation Technology (APTI), National Trust for Historic Buildings, Preservation Action and Youth Dreamers Youth Center where he is involved with building an after school center for Baltimore City school students and the surrounding community for which he received a Service Learning Champion award from the National Youth Leadership Council. |
