Andrew Howden is president of IMS Asia Pacific, responsible for IMS operations in 16 countries in the region. He was named to the position in October 2007, joining IMS in May 2007 as general manager, ASEAN markets.
Before coming to IMS, Howden was regional vice president, Asia Pacific for AstraZeneca, where he oversaw development of the company’s business operations in the region. His 25 years of experience working in the healthcare field include two decades of service in a variety of business management positions with national, regional and international responsibilities.
From 1998 to 2002, he was with Quintiles Transnational, serving as president of Asia Pacific, and later, president of Europe. Prior to that, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Upjohn and Astra, including international product manager for Astra’s Cardiovascular Division, marketing director, Astra Australia, and area director for Astra in South East Asia. Howden began his career in 1981 as a sales representative with Upjohn in Australia.
Howden holds B.Sc. and Masters of Commerce degrees from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
