Andy Brimmer has nearly two decades of experience providing strategic investor and public relations counsel to U.S. and international companies. In addition to his extensive work in special situations, Mr. Brimmer has successfully developed and implemented a diverse range of corporate positioning and communications programs for public and private corporations.
Mr. Brimmer has advised numerous companies about communications strategies for restructurings and reorganizations including Calpine Corporation, Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers; HealthSouth; Krispy Kreme Doughnuts; Charter Communications; the Portland Trail Blazers; NRG Energy; Allegheny Energy; and Phar-Mor.
In transactions, Mr. Brimmer has advised Sirius Radio on its merger with XM Satellite Radio; US Airways in its unsolicited takeover proposal for Delta Air Lines; Omnicare in its acquisitions of NeighborCare and NCS Healthcare; NRG Energy on its acquisition of Texas Genco; Constellation Brands in its acquisition of The Robert Mondavi Co. and Vincor International; BI-LO (a division of Ahold USA) on its acquisition by Lone Star Funds; Ralston Purina in its acquisition by Nestlé; Chevron in its acquisition of Texaco; and Bell Atlantic and NYNEX with communications to integrate the two companies following their merger. Among his initial public offering assignments, Mr. Brimmer assisted United Parcel Service (UPS) with its $5.47 billion IPO.
With regard to litigation and special situations, Mr. Brimmer has worked with Omnicare on a number of multi-state settlements; a large hedge fund in response to inquiries from the NY State Attorney General and the SEC; Timex Corporation in a lawsuit against Guess Inc. for alleged antitrust violations; with a large brokerage firm in response to NASD arbitration proceedings and subsequent SEC and NASD settlements; Mitsubishi Motors Manufacturing of America’s settlement of sexual harassment charges with the EEOC and Publix Super Markets’ settlement of gender discrimination allegations.
Mr. Brimmer received a B.A. in English literature from Yale University. He also studied Chinese for several years at language institutes in Taiwan. He is a board member of the International Rescue Committee, the world’s leading non-profit, nonsectarian organization providing relief and resettlement services for refugees. |
