Mr. Eckert brings to Eclipsys a proven track record of success in both healthcare and enterprise software. Before joining Eclipsys, Mr. Eckert was Chief Executive Officer of SumTotal Systems, Inc., the leading provider of learning and business performance technologies and services. Under Mr. Eckert’s leadership, SumTotal became the clear leader in its market space moving up from #4 in 2002 with two times the revenues, three times the customer base and four times the cash position of any direct competitor. From 2002 to March 2004, Mr. Eckert was the CEO of Docent, Inc., until it merged with Click2learn to form SumTotal Systems in 2004.
Previously, Mr. Eckert spent 11 years with ADAC Laboratories, a global leader in nuclear medicine and radiation therapy planning systems, where he served as CEO (1997 to 2001), Chairman (1999 until its sale to Philips Medical Systems in December 2000), and President (1994 to 1997).
During Mr. Eckert’s tenure, ADAC achieved record financial performance and customer satisfaction as he streamlined operations and refocused the business on strategic growth markets. Under his leadership, the company significantly grew its share of the U.S. nuclear medicine market and added new businesses in both the cancer treatment and healthcare information systems industries. In 1996, ADAC was the first healthcare company to be honored with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Before joining ADAC, Mr. Eckert worked in the consulting and finance industries with Goldman Sachs, Summit Partners and Marakon Associates.
He serves on the Boards of Directors of Connetics Corporation, a specialty pharmaceuticals company, and Varian Medical Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of integrated cancer therapy systems. Mr. Eckert is a Fellow of the College of Nuclear Medicine and co-chairman of the Pacific Vascular Research Foundation, a vascular disease research and public awareness organization.
Mr. Eckert earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering with distinction from Stanford University and a Master in Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business. |
