Mr. Wiest is a director in the Northeast Region of CBIZ Valuation Group. His responsibilities include the management and execution of engagements, business development, training and scheduling of staff and review of valuation assignments. Mr. Wiest has over 18 years of experience in the valuation and appraisal of business enterprises, intangible assets and securities for purposes such as purchase price allocations, impairment testing, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, recapitalizations, litigation support, dissenting stockholders' actions, estate planning and ESOPs. Mr. Wiest also has considerable experience advising clients on all aspects of the merger and acquisition process including identifying potential buyers/sellers, initiating and conducting negotiations on behalf of clients and advising clients on financial issues such as valuation and deal structure. In his career, Mr. Wiest has worked with clients across a wide range of industries including software, communications, life sciences, publishing, consulting, manufacturing, retail trade, distribution, agriculture engineering/construction and other professional services including several government (EPA, DOD and DOE) contractors. Mr. Wiest has also developed considerable expertise in the valuation of intangible assets and intellectual property such as in-process research and development, covenants not-to-compete, patents, copyrights and trademarks in connection with purchase price allocations. He has also been involved in a number of projects involving the development of arm's length royalty rates for intellectual property utilizing IRC Section 482 transfer pricing methodologies. Prior to joining CBIZ Valuation Group, Mr. Wiest was a vice president with Hempstead & Co. where he directed business development and served as the firm's representative to the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission's Appraisal Issues Task Force (AITF). He also spent several years in management at KPMG, LLP where he advised clients on valuation oriented financial reporting and tax issues. Mr. Wiest holds a bachelor of science in finance with a minor in economics from the Pennsylvania State University. He currently holds the designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) from the American Society of Appraisers in the discipline of Business Valuation and is currently enrolled as a Level II candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at Widener University and a panelist at an annual meeting of the American Bar Association. |
