Andrew Flame is a partner who joined Drinker Biddle & Reath in 1993 as a member of its Commercial Litigation Practice Group. In 1997, he joined the Corporate Restructuring Practice Group, focusing his practice on bankruptcy, workouts and collections. Andrew took a leave of absence from the firm in 1994 to serve as a clerk with the Honorable Stewart Dalzell in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. As part of Andrew's law school curriculum, he served as a part-time clerk with the Honorable Louis H. Pollak of that court.
Experience. Andrew has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the country representing secured creditors, lessors, unsecured creditors committees and purchasers. Andrew counts two NYSE listed lenders among his clients and has represented creditors and purchasers in, among others, the Kmart, Montgomery Ward and Ameriserve bankruptcy cases. Andrew's background in complex commercial litigation has benefited him in litigating matters in federal and state courts. Andrew commonly represents lenders in complex commercial foreclosures of real and personal property in and outside of Pennsylvania.
In General. As a law student at Temple, Andrew received two academic scholarships, the Alfred Sarowitz Award and the Carrye Barenkopf Scholarship, and numerous awards and distinctions for academic performance.
Andrew has a long history of involvement in community service and was a founder, in conjunction with a youth organization, of a summer camp for economically disadvantaged children. Additionally, he has presented drug and alcohol and drunk driving prevention programs to youth groups in seven states and has served as a member of the Cheltenham Township (Pennsylvania) Drug, Alcohol and Mental Health Commission. Andrew currently is the President of Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, a religious institution of 1100 families founded in 1857. |
