Andrew E. Weissman is an associate in the Corporate Restructuring Practice Group of the Chicago office. Andrew has represented debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, indenture trustees, creditors’ committees, landlords, Chapter 11 trustees, panel trustees and liquidating trustees in a wide variety of bankruptcy, restructuring and finance matters, including Chapter 11 reorganizations and out-of-court workouts. His reorganization and insolvency experience spans a broad spectrum of industries including aviation, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, health care, energy, gaming, real estate and professional services.
Andrew also regularly represents lenders, borrowers and trustees in securitizations, structured finance transactions and secured loans, including commercial mortgage securitization transactions. Andrew also has significant experience drafting and negotiating non-consolidation and true-sale opinions for securitization transactions.
Andrew's recent notable representations include: the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of JS II, L.L.C., a developer of 115 single family homes in the City of Chicago; Manufacturers & Traders Trust Company as indenture trustee with respect to 21 aircraft transactions constituting over $100 million of debt in the bankruptcy of Independence Air; Wells Fargo Bank as indenture trustee for $2.5 billion of debt in the Mirant Corporation bankruptcy; Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors for Emerald Casino, Inc.; U.S. Bank National Association as indenture trustee with respect to more than 300 aircraft transactions constituting nearly $9 billion of debt in UAL Corporation’s bankruptcy case; Met-Coil Systems Corporation, a manufacturer facing significant environmental liabilities, in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in the District of Delaware; the liquidating trustee for the estate of Xpedior, Inc.; Fifth Third Bank, as the secured lender in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of T.T.C. Illinois, Inc., one of the largest employee leasing companies in the United States; Worldwide Xceed Group, Inc., an eBusiness consulting firm, in its liquidation through Chapter 11; and Physician Health Corporation, a $130 million health care corporation, in its recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
