Andy Tanick joined Ford & Harrison in 2007 bringing 20 years of experience defending employment cases and assisting employers to develop effective policies and avoid litigation. He advises clients on issues such as non-compete agreements, severance negotiations, and employment policies and practices and has successfully litigated numerous cases in areas such as discrimination, whistleblowing and sexual harassment. Prior to joining the firm, Andy was a partner at the Minneapolis firm of Rider Bennett LLP, and was the Chair of that firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group from 2002 through 2004. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Honorable Edward J. Parker at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Andy is a frequent lecturer at employment law seminars and has written several employment law articles. He was named a "Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics in 1999 and 2000 and has been named a "Super Lawyer" every year beginning with 2001. Andy is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar and Hennepin County Bar and is licensed to practice in Minnesota, the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. Andy is on the Board of Directors of Grand Symphonic Winds, a community band, and performed at Carnegie Hall in college as a member of the University of Minnesota Wind Ensemble.
During law school he was a Note and Comment Editor, and a published author, on the Minnesota Law Review.
