Andy Slusser has served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for Capella since the Company was formed in April 2005. Bringing a depth of experience in hospital finance, corporate finance and development to Capella’s ground-floor team, Andy was instrumental in negotiating the transaction and securing the financing to purchase Capella’s first four hospitals from HCA. In his role as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, Andy leads the Company’s efforts to partner with local communities to improve healthcare services by delivering more capital to expand services, recruit more physicians to serve the community and provide a new tax base to the local governments.Prior to joining Capella, Andy served as Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for Province Healthcare. During his tenure at Province, Andy played a key role in securing partnerships with several local communities to acquire capital-starved facilities and offer the local community a viable turnaround plan. He led Province’s efforts to identify acquisition opportunities and prepare effective presentation materials for local community stakeholders. He was also the lead project manager on due diligence efforts for potential partnerships. Andy was instrumental in closing 16 transactions involving local community and governmental hospitals. Working with Tom Anderson, Andy brings this community-focused approach to Capella.Andy began his career in 1981 with HCA as an assistant controller of a Dallas-area hospital. Within four years, Andy was elevated to hospital Chief Financial Officer, first in Dallas and then in Houston. Because of his successful track record as a hospital Chief Financial Officer, Andy was appointed division Chief Financial Officer of HealthTrust’s Eastern Region in 1990. (HealthTrust was spun-off from HCA in 1987 and was re-acquired by HCA in 1995).Andy holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Texas and is a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife Karen have one son and one daughter. |
