Andrew Roberts was appointed executive vice president of operations at Northwest Airlines in October 2004. Prior to assuming his current position, he had been senior vice president of technical operations since August 2001. He is responsible for technical operations, engineering, flight operations, systems operations control, customer service, and materials management.
Roberts also has been Northwest's vice president of materials management operations, where he was responsible for the acquisition and distribution of the materials required by the line and base maintenance organizations. Roberts joined the company in September 1997 as the managing director of Minneapolis/St. Paul engine operations, where he had responsibility for the airline's large engine maintenance facility and technical support shops.
Roberts was previously general manager of the Columbus engine center for Pratt & Whitney in Columbus, Ga., and also was general manager for engine repair at Aviall, Inc., in Dallas. Before joining Aviall, Roberts worked in various engineer and maintenance positions for Lucas Industries.
Roberts received an honors degree in engineering production form the University of Birmingham and a postgraduate diploma in manufacturing engineering from Coventry City Polytechnic. He serves as chairman of the board of Aeroxchange and also serves on the board of Special Olympics Minnesota. He and his wife reside in Apple Valley, Minn. with their two children. |
