Andrew A. Barnard is our President and Chief Executive Officer and one of our directors. Mr. Barnard currently serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Odyssey America Reinsurance Corporation, Clearwater Insurance Company, Hudson Insurance Company, Hudson Specialty Insurance Company and Clearwater Select Insurance Company. Mr. Barnard is also Chairman of the Board and a Director of Newline Underwriting Management Limited. Mr. Barnard served as President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Odyssey Re Group Ltd. (now known as FFHL Group Ltd.), one of our parent companies, from January 1998 to June 2001. He also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Odyssey Reinsurance Corporation (now known as Clearwater Insurance Company) from January 1998 to April 1999 and as President and Chief Operating Officer from July 1996 to December 1997. Mr. Barnard has 29 years of experience in the reinsurance business. Before joining us, Mr. Barnard served as Executive Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer and a director of Transatlantic Holdings from 1989 to 1996; Vice President of Reliance Reinsurance from 1985 to 1989; and Assistant Vice President of Skandia Group from 1977 to 1985. Mr. Barnard currently serves on the boards of St. John’s University School of Risk Management and the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform. Mr. Barnard is a resident of Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Andy joined OdysseyRe in his present role in 1996, having served in a variety of positions at Skandia America Re, Reliance Reinsurance Management and Transatlantic Reinsurance, where he was Executive Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer.
Andy graduated from Clark University with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations and is known for his wicked returns of service on the courts around Ardsley, New York.
