International dispute resolution and regulatory counsel are the primary areas of emphasis in Analia Gonzalez's practice. She represents clients in international arbitrations, including cases pending before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). As part of this work she focuses on matters of comparative law, such as compliance with obligations derived from international agreements and state practice.
Analia has done considerable work on matters involving investment and trade in Latin America. She has practiced law in Uruguay and represented clients on civil and trade law matters in that country. She also has experience in working with bilateral and multilateral agencies and international organizations to facilitate regional business and investment. In this context Analia assisted with the integration of infrastructure, energy, trade and customs issues to support projects between Mexico, Central America and Colombia. Working with the highest authorities in these countries, she has participated in negotiating Memorandums of Understanding in the areas of transportation, energy, telecommunications and sustainable development.
Before leaving a major international law firm to join Foley Hoag in 2007, Analia had significant and varied international experience. From 2001 to 2006 she was a Consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC, a period during which she also served an internship at the Inter-American Investment Corporation. From 1997 to 2001 Analia was associated with two different law firms in Uruguay.
