Ana Burns, M.S.E.S., is the Coordinator for the Ecological Services unit within the Natural Resource Consulting group, and a biologist responsible for project management, data analysis, and report writing for ecological surveys, watershed studies, park inventories, and other projects. She has managed multiple 401/404 permitting projects along with numerous natural resource inventory and planning projects. Ms. Burns is knowledgeable of state and federal stream and wetlands regulations, all aspects of Section 401 and 404 permitting, isolated wetlands regulations, and compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to streams and wetlands. She has reviewed and assessed erosion and sediment control plans and is familiar with NPDES regulations. In addition, Ms. Burns has provided assistance with grant writing and managing grant funded projects and has experience in aerial photograph interpretation and geographic information systems (GIS). Ms. Burns has seven years of experience with coordinating and facilitating public meetings and public hearings. She has assisted in the development of various planning documents including greenways planning, watershed planning, and urban forestry management plans. In addition to public meetings, Ms, Burns has developed many informational public outreach publications and prepared electronic sources of information for distribution. With a background in urban and rural planning, she is well versed in working with planning commissions, steering committees, and local political groups and has given many presentations at a variety of venues. Ms. Burns graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and holds a Master of Science degree in environmental science from IU's School of Public and Environmental Affairs. |
