Amy E. Nelson is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She is a member of the Trial Department. Prior to joining McDermott, Amy was an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of a prominent international law firm.
Amy’s practice includes all aspects of civil litigation, as well as white collar criminal proceedings and government investigations. She has defended clients before the United States Congress, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission. She advises clients on international business and lobbying ventures under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
Amy has represented clients in a variety of civil litigation matters and has defended clients accused of criminal and civil fraud, espionage, securities fraud and antitrust violations. Amy’s experience before state and federal courts includes representation of a death row inmate before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Amy has represented numerous pro bono clients on a variety of poverty law issues and is an active volunteer for the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.
Amy is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the District of Columbia and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
