Allen Saeks concentrates his practice in commercial and business litigation, including bankruptcy, banking, legal malpractice defense, minority shareholder disputes, trust and estate litigation, RICO, white collar crime, law firm breakups and professional disciplinary proceedings. His substantial experience in bankruptcy litigation arises out of his handling of various real estate developments. In addition to significant bank and securities litigation, he has handled shareholder disputes in closely held corporations and law firm breakups. Recently he represented a prominent family in a complex minority shareholder litigation in Minnesota Federal Court, and more recently obtained a judgment for more than $26 million against a Florida real estate developer under RICO in a Federal Court in Florida. Allen has also represented defendants in complicated hostile takeover litigation and has successfully defended major financial institutions and their officers and trustees.
Allen is certified as a civil trial specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association and has been a member of the National Settlement without Asset (SWAT) team for the Resolution Trust Corporation, handling complex real estate issues. Allen has been a frequent CLE lecturer on various litigation subjects, including more recently, ethics and related issues in minority shareholder litigation and law firm breakups.
Allen is a past chair of the firm’s commercial litigation practice group.
