Allen is of counsel in the real estate department. He focuses his practice on commercial real estate development and lending. Allen has represented developers and lenders in managing, negotiating, and closing a variety of commercial real estate development transactions, including numerous retail, office, apartment, and mixed-use developments. He is also involved with assisting clients in connection with federal and state land sales regulation. Prior to joining the firm, Allen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerard D. Reilly, Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, 1974-1975.
Representative Matters
Represented purchaser in acquisition and financing of an 80-property portfolio of office and industrial buildings and unimproved parcels.
Assisted owner in negotiating a 150,000 square foot office lease in connection with the relocation of three divisions of a national company from California to North Carolina.
Represented a retail developer in a series of single and multi-tenant retail "power centers" located in North Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arizona.
Assisted in preparing, submitting and maintaining over fifty (50) Statements of Record (Property Reports) filed with the Office of Interstate Land Sales of HUD and applicable State filings and exemptions.
Assisted owners/developers in the division of existing and prospective multi-use projects into separate condominium components (high-rise office, hotel, parking garage, retail).
