Alison R. Smith joins mCapitol Management as a Legislative Assistant and brings experience in public relations, research and international affairs. Prior to joining mCapitol, Ms. Smith worked on the StrategyOne Media Analysis and Research team at Edelman Public Relations in Washington, D.C., where she was responsible for analyzing international media responses to public affairs, advertising, branding and issue management for major companies and public figures including Wal- Mart, PepsiCo, Thaksin Shinawatra and others. In 2005, Ms. Smith interned with the Scottish Parliament under Sarah Boyack, Deputy Minister for the Environment and Rural Development. While there, she was an integral part of the Save the Cameo campaign to preserve a historic film house and arts venue. Additionally, she was responsible for the production of a background synopsis on a Small Scale Sustainable Energy Bill, which was distributed to community members and all Members of Scottish Parliament prior to formal chamber debate. Ms. Smith also assisted with constituent communication and participated in by-election campaign proceedings for Charlie Gordon, MSP, Glasgow. In 2004, Ms. Smith participated in the International Institute for Political and Economic Studies through the Fund for American Studies in Chania, Greece. While there, she studied international relations, conflict resolution and nation building. In 2005, she attended the American Institute on Political and Economic Systems in Prague, Czech Republic to study the economic and political transition of post Soviet nations. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from Furman University. Alison R.
