Dr. Somarin finished his Doctorate (PhD) degree in Ore Deposit Geology at the University of New England, Australia (1999) studying molybdenum-tungsten-tin-copper greisen-porphyry deposit. He has more than 17 years experience as a geologist working on various types of ore deposits including lead-zinc Mississippi Valley type deposits, greisen, porphyry, precious metal epithermal, skarn, platinum group elements (PGE), iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) and volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits. Alireza has worked as an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Geology at Tabriz University, Iran. He has also worked as a Research Associate (Post-Doctoral Fellowship) at Lakehead University, Ontario. His principal interests include exploration of ore deposits and their geology, geochemistry, mineralogy and origin. He is currently teaching geology courses at the Department of Geology, Brandon University, Manitoba. He has been involved in the IOCG project in the Great Bear Lake region since June 2006. |
