Alice D. Ackerman, M.D., comes to Roanoke from Baltimore, MD., where she served as the Head of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Ackerman received her medical degree from Washington University at St. Louis School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed her fellowship with The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Ackerman has conducted extensive research into the intensive care of pediatric patients and has been frequently published. She has appeared on 60 Minutes and in US News and World Report discussing ethical issues in healthcare. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. She will oversee pediatric care at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital upon its consolidation with Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital in September. |
