Alfred R. Berkeley is chairman and CEO of Pipeline Trading Systems LLC, a New York City-based firm that operates the Pipeline Alternative Trading System (ATS) that enables institutions and brokerage firms to quickly and efficiently trade blocks of NYSE-listed companies, NASDAQ stocks, ADRs, and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Prior to Pipeline, Al was president and vice chairman of NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. (1996-2003), and general partner and CIO at Alex. Brown & Sons (1972-1996). Al is chairman of the Subcommittee on Economics, Committee on Scientific Communications and National Security, National Academies; a member of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council (presidential appointment); and a member of the Advisory Committee, Applied Physics Laboratory. He is also a trustee of John Hopkins University and Allen University, and director for Webex, Inc. (sold to Cisco this June); Kintera, Inc.; RealPage, Inc.; XBRL USA (non-profit established for SEC to replace Edgar reporting system); and World Economic Forum USA. Al received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He served as a captain in the United States Air Force and a major in the United States Air Force Reserve. |
