Mr. Mottur is a Shareholder and the Managing Partner of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck's Washington, D.C., office. He is a co-chairman of the firm's Government Relations Group. Mr. Mottur provides strategic public policy advice to clients primarily in the financial services, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and media sectors facing challenging issues before the U.S. Congress and executive branch agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mottur served as senior communications counsel for the United States Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. As a committee counsel for four years, he was responsible for all telecommunications legislation, policy and hearings in the Senate Commerce Committee, including privacy, broadcast, cable, satellite, media ownership rules, Internet, common carrier, spectrum, wireless issues and FCC oversight. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Mottur was an associate with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer Feld's Washington, D.C., office. He represented clients on a variety of public policy issues before Congress and the Clinton Administration, including telecommunications, intellectual property, internet issues, electricity deregulation and Puerto Rico's political status. Mr. Mottur began his legal career as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court in Bangor, Maine, following his graduation from Georgetown University Law School. |
