Alexine Clement Jackson has been an active volunteer in the Washington, D.C., community for more than 25 years, most recently serving a five-year term as national president of the YWCA. With the YWCA, Ms. Jackson was a member of the United States delegation to YWCA World Council meetings in Seoul, Korea, and Cairo, Egypt, and joined a 10-member World YWCA delegation for a fact-finding mission in the Middle East. She is currently on the board of the Black Women's Agenda (chair), The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Strathmore Hall Arts Center, the Intercultural Cancer Council (past chair), the Cancer Research Foundation of America and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, among others. A 20-year breast cancer survivor, Ms. Jackson is an advocate and public spokesperson for breast cancer early detection and quality health care for all. A magna cum laude graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Ms. Jackson received her MA from the University of Iowa. |
