Krekich is President of BAE Systems Ship Repair, located in Norfolk, Virginia. Following retirement from the Navy in 1998, he joined Southwest Marine. When Southwest Marine acquired Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock Corporation (NORSHIPCO) he was named President and General Manager of the facility. In 1999 the corporation was restructured and renamed United States Marine Repair (USMR). Krekich was then named President and Chief Operating Officer of USMR until the company was acquired by United Defense Industries (UDI) in July 2002. When UDI was acquired by BAE Systems, he was asked to continue as president of BAE Systems Ship Repair.
Krekich served as a Flag Officer on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon. He later served as a Battle Group Commander and as Director, Surface Warfare on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. His last Navy assignment was as Commander of Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet in San Diego, California. He also commanded the cruiser USS BELKNAP (CG-26) and frigate USS AINSWORTH (FF-1090); and served in Vietnam as an Officer-In-Charge of a fast patrol craft (SWIFT Boat). |
