With over 25 years of experience in power generation, Alex McFadden currently directs all environment, healthy & safety activities for TransAlta Corporation.
His responsibilities include corporate-wide environment, health, and safety services, audits, internal and external reporting, permitting, and strategic issues related to environment healthy & safety, Mr. McFadden combines his technical expertise with a background in plant operations, maintenance and engineering, to deliver key business results for the company.
Mr. McFadden previously directed all major maintenance activities for TransAlta's coal, gas and hydro assets and played a key role in the company’s asset team approach to managing generating facilities, including maximizing profits while managing risk.
As well, Mr. McFadden recently led an initiative to move the company's coal outages from a two-year to a three-year cycle, based on extensive research and long-term strategic fleet planning.
Having played key leadership roles in the commissioning of TransAlta's Sarnia and Poplar Creek gas-fired plants and managing the company's Alberta hydro facilities, Mr. McFadden’s knowledge goes well beyond thermal power generation.
Mr. McFadden has a First Class Power Engineer Certificate from Alberta. |
