Alex Davern CFO and senior vice president of manufacturing and IT operations leads National Instruments global manufacturing organization and manages the company's finance and internal technology functions worldwide. Since joining National Instruments in 1994 Davern has set the highest ethical standards for National Instruments financial reporting.
During Davern's tenure at National Instruments the company has consistently invested in meeting the long-term needs of its customers and shareholders. As part of this investment National Instruments continued to grow its R&D department through the recent economic downturn helping the company quickly gain market share by releasing a record number of new products and outperforming its industry during this time. Davern also was instrumental in opening the company's first overseas manufacturing facility in Hungary which delivered millions of dollars in cost savings to both National Instruments and its customers around the globe.
Davern led efforts to improve the efficiency of the growing National Instruments product and administrative operations in Europe and Ireland by restructuring the company's entire business process in Europe taking advantage of the opportunities made available by the new common market. He also guided the launch of the company's worldwide Oracle ERP system which today tracks hundreds of thousands of sales transactions each year and has dramatically improved the company's customer service and market share.
Davern is recognized throughout the industry as an expert in the areas of corporate finance and executive leadership. He is chairman of the American Electronics Association (AeA) committee on the reform of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and a member of the NASDAQ Sarbanes-Oxley 404 workgroup. Davern also serves on the board of directors of SigmaTel Inc. (NASDAQ) and on the advisory board for The University of Texas Executive MBA program. Davern is also a former member of the Securities and Exchange Commissions' Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies.
Before joining National Instruments Davern worked for many years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Europe and the United States. He joined National Instruments in 1994 as the company's corporate controller and served as the company's CFO from 1997 to 2002 when he was promoted to his current position overseeing finance IT and manufacturing. Davern holds an undergraduate degree in business studies and a post-graduate diploma in professional accounting from University College of Dublin. He is a former member of both the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Irish Society of Chartered Accountants. |
