Pete Hart is chairman of Silicon Valley Bancshares and Silicon Valley Bank, and is a consultant in consumer services, specializing in payment services and consumer finance. Until 1997, he served as CEO of Advanta Corporation, a diversified financial services company. From 1988 to 1994, he was president and CEO of MasterCard International, the worldwide payment service provider. Concurrently, he served as chairman of the board of Maestro International, the global debit system and was a member of the board of directors of Europay International. Before joining MasterCard, he spent ten years at First Interstate Bancorp, then one of the United State's largest retail banking organizations and now part of Wells Fargo. He joined as president and CEO of First Interstate Services Company, the system-wide technology and operations subsidiary. In 1981, he was named First Interstate's executive vice president of Consumer Banking and Operations. While there he became the founding chairman of the board of the CIRRUS System, the largest network of shared automated teller machines in the world today.
Prior to First Interstate, he served as the general manager of the Card Services group at the First National Bank of Chicago and director of marketing at BancOhio. |
